How do we ignite student and educator learning that changes practice and unlocks student talents?
Join us as we continue to seek ways to redesign our schools for the success of EACH student and prepare them for postsecondary success. Well known author Robin Fogarty returns to Kansas to open the conference with an all-day session on January 30th, focusing on Preparing for the Test of Life. Her focus will be on the roles of motivation, deliberate practice, and coaching in developing talent and abilities in students through engagement, relevant examples, discussions, and activities appropriate for all grade levels. A leading proponent of the thoughtful classroom, Robin has worked with educators in curriculum, instruction and assessment strategies. She has taught at all levels, from kindergarten to college, served as an administrator, and consulted with state departments and ministries of education in the United States and around the world.
Publications: Robin has published articles in Educational Leadership, Phi Delta Kappan, Learning Forward’s Journal and the Middle School Journal. Robin writes posts for 4 blogs regularly and has authored or co-authored over 35 books for educators, including Brain-Compatible Classrooms, Literacy Matters, How to Integrate the Curricula, The Adult Learner, A Look at Transfer, Close the Achievement Gap, Twelve Brain Principles, Nine Best Practices and From Staff Room to Classroom. In 2017 and 2018, Unlocking Student Talent: The New Science of Developing Student Expertise and Metacognition: The Neglected Skill Set for Empowering Students are her latest publications.
Commissioner Randy Watson, 2018 KTOY Samantha Neill, and Kansas colleagues will continue our learning on Thursday, January 31st. This conference is for all educators and leaders, including: classroom teachers, teacher leaders, coaches, building and district leaders.Participants will experience collaborative learning that leads to greater engagement and deeper conversations, creating a culture that empowers redesign efforts where all learners flourish.
